Undying Sounds: Reinventing Komeda
Krzysztof Komeda wrote the music for some of the boldest films in Polish and European cinema. Undying Sounds tells his story again in today's language. Blanka Barbara reworked his jazz into contemporary electronic and acoustic music and played it live with Late Arrivals, her duo with St. Ignatius, joined by Alice Zawadzki on vocals and the trio of Emma Rawicz, Jonny Mansfield and Freddie Jensen. I made the films: each piece met the classic film it was written for, re-imagined with AI, so that sound and image became one story. Southbank Centre, Purcell Room, London. The concert sold out within a month.
The full projectKomeda, reinterpreted.
Original scores by Krzysztof Komeda, reimagined as contemporary electronic music and played with a live jazz trio.
Black and white cinema, joined with AI.
Each piece met an animation inspired by the film it was written for: Knife in the Water, Two Men and a Wardrobe, Rosemary's Baby, The Fearless Vampire Killers, Barrier, Innocent Sorcerers, The Law and the Fist, Goodbye, See You Tomorrow, When Angels Fall.

Renaissance
Ornament and Crime, Renaissance edition, made for Digital Design Days in Milan with Prompt Magazine on the theme of Renaissance. It began with a question: are we so attached to form following function, to budgets and spreadsheets, that we no longer allow ourselves bespoke beauty? The digital is a test field where that beauty can come back. Here the Renaissance is about the women I have met on my way, their rebirths and transformations. Inspired, among others, by the countertenor Jakub Józef Orliński.

Tajassom
A series made for the 2024 Tajassom festival in Tehran. I wanted to catch something of Persian heritage with today's tools: dense ornament on calm, minimal forms, fluid geometry, gardens inside the building, and sun and shadow moving across it all. Old and new side by side, and a human hand steering a process that is biased by nature.

Detroit
Three films for Constructing Futures AI: Detroit 2050 at the College of Architecture and Design, Lawrence Technological University, during Detroit Month of Design 2024. Growing architecture 2.0, in three series: Mycelium, Nature and Mineral, buildings grown from fungi, plants and crystals. A question about where our construction resources come from and how we process them, because the future of architecture is decided by what we do now.

Underwater Love
Lake of Emotions, made for Runway's GEN:48 competition. A metaphor for how we live with our emotions: men enter a pond one by one and are received by mermaids, our heart, mind and soul, who care for each emotion, turn it to stone and lay it as a foundation at the bottom of the lake, making room for whatever comes next.
